23/01/12 - Japan Round 2
Hi everyone!Sorry for the lack of updates, as most of you know, I'm currently in Japan right now! I've been busy everyday doing things so haven't had much time to update. I have been taking heaps of photos and vlogging a lot so when I come back I promise I'll be uploading heaps of Japan vlogs!
I'll be writing Japan blog posts of my new adventures so keep checking back for more! If you haven't already follow me on my Twitter for regular updates! I update my Tumblr also with photos from my phone in Japan.
So anyway! This blog post is about my first day in Japan, Japan round 2!
We left Perth Airport at around midnight, I was super thirsty so just bought water
On the plane to Hong Kong! My travel buddy this time is Janelle, you'll be seeing her in lots of my blog posts and videos later :P
Our plane~ We flew with Cathay Pacific so we were going to Hong Kong first
Dinner ~ at like.. 1am? lol
I can never sleep on airplanes, I think I had only 3 hours sleep that night :(
At dawn
Breakfast on the plane
Just before landing
We landed at Hong Kong Airport and had 3 hours to transfer to our flight to Osaka.
Walking around Hong Kong Airport
My first purchase~ A Dior travel size brush set
Janelle & I
Since I really needed a coffee to keep myself awake, we decided to go to Starbucks
So wish they have a starbucks in Perth :(
We decided to just go sit down early at our terminal so we don't have to rush and panic about missing our plane :P
While lining up to board our plane we saw a Hello Kitty plane!!
We boarded our plane for Osaka which was only a 3 hour flight. I chose to have the Japanese meal set ~
The plane ride from Hong Kong to Osaka felt like the longest plane ride ever. Mainly because I was desperate to go to the toilet when we were landing and we weren't allowed to leave our seats T_T We landed in Osaka and I ran straight for the toilets ahaha.
We had to catch this monorail train to go to immigration
Welcome to Kansai~
Immigration took a while since there were so many people X__X After we got through I went to the Softbank store in the airport to buy myself a phone to contact friends while in Japan. For those of you going to Japan, DO NOT buy the phone at the airport, they will charge you more for it. I ended up paying around 12,000 yen for the phone when last time when I went to Japan and got phones, we paid only 6000 yen a phone. Since I really needed the phone I didnt think about it and got it anyway, though they made me wait 40 minutes for the phone when last time I didn't have to wait at all. I gave my phone I had last time to my friend so that's why I had to buy another one.
Waiting for my phone ~
Since we had to wait 40 minutes for the phone we just went somewhere warm to bum around
Using my friend's phone to text a friend haha. My friend is a huge Hello Kitty fanatic xD
Went back to the airport to wait for my phone
We decided to take the subway to go to our hostel since it's cheaper. I decided to go to Namba station, transfer at Umeda then take the Hankyu line to Mikuni station where our hostel is.
Photos from the train~
Transferring was the worst, I couldn't find any elevators or escalators at Namba station so we had to walk up and down the stairs with all our luggage... wasn't good at all :( I was so annoyed that things weren't going to plan because we were meant to meet at friend at 6.30 to go to his host family's house for dinner, but it was already around 6pm by the time we reached Umeda station. I got lost at Hankyu station also, I was confident that I remembered how to get back to the hostel however I totally forgot how the Hankyu lines worked T_T Luckily we managed to ask someone and got to Mikuni station ok. In Osaka we stayed at Caminoro Guest House. I stayed there last year and really liked it so decided to go back there.
While walking through the Mikuni street, I met the Taiyaki couple that we used to talk to a lot last year! They actually remembered me so I was really happy! Here is a photo we took with them last year
I will blog more about them later, but they were just super nice to us!
Because we got back to the hostel so late, we decided to postpone the dinner with my friend's host family. Instead we went outside to get some dinner, the Taiyaki shop had closed so we decided to just get Okonomiyaki down the road
Random snack I bought
Our room~
Sorry this post wasn't very interesting. We were just settling down that day so nothing much was going on. I'm also quite busy in Japan so sorry that I haven't been able to blog or make any videos T_T But I have been vlogging and taking lots of photos so the next few posts will be interesting!

Write comments$29 coffee? so expensive lah >_< I'm glad I can't stand coffee :b
Reply$29 Hong Kong dollars is only around $3 Australian haha :P
ReplyI want to go back to Japan now, your ryokan/hostel reminds me of the one I stayed in at kyoto :3
ReplyKim you're absolutely gorgeous! <3 Especially in the Welcome to Kansai photo! :O Even w/o makeup, super flawless!
Reply2 meals on the same plane?! i can't even get one, lol. i can just imagine the flight from eastern USA all the way to japan...and no food. i bet they have food though, hopefully it's not extra though, that's ludicrous. i'm the exact opposite though... i always try to sleep through a flight. you've mentioned a lack of starbucks before...it strikes me as odd, since there must be at least 5 of them within a ten mile radius of my house... seriously. :) (in fact, there are two in the same shopping center) i rarely go though, probably b/c i try not to drink coffee much, and everything there is expensive. looking forward to updates.
ReplyOh really? :( I flew with cathay pacific and they gave us 2 meals. I know some of the budget airlines make you pay an extra $20 for food O_O
ReplySo lucky you have lots of starbucks! We don't even have 1 in the area I live :(
Aww thank-you! ^^;; was super tired and skin was so dry X__X
ReplyYou and Janelle are adorable! Do you happen to know where she got her Hello Kitty backpack? It's so cute~
