21/01/13 - Hiroshima ~ Atomic Bomb Dome & Miyajima
Hey guys!I know I said I will try update a lot in Japan but it's been more difficult than I thought lately.. I've been getting back to my apartment very late so it's been difficult to do anything! Though I have been getting heaps of filming done so there will be lots of Japan vlogs when I get back to Australia!
I'm at a hair salon right now and well it's going to take a while so I decided to bring my laptop along with me~
I realized that I had photos uploaded from Hiroshima last year which I haven't blogged about yet so I decided to do it now while I'm sitting around~! I was going to do a few blog posts about my post this time but I forgot that I copied all my photos into a hardrive and left it at the apartment lol :(
But anyway~! I already went to Hiroshima my first time in Japan but I wanted to take my family there since my dad always wanted to see the Atomic Bomb Dome.
First we went to Shin-Osaka (新大阪) station to take the Shinkansen to Hiroshima. We had JR passes that we already bought so we didn't have to pay for the train.
The Shinkansen timetable. Unfortunately we had to wait about 2 hours for the next train to Hiroshima
My friend grabbed a shot while I was waiting for the guy to give us our passes lol.
My family outside the Shinkansen station~

Selfieeee
Our JR passes! It was around $300AUD at the time for a pass. It's worth it if you are planning to take the Shinkansen a lot.
Waiting for the train~
Inside the Shinkansen~
You can buy snacks to eat on the shinkansen because the ride is quite long
If you want to take the tram around Hiroshima or the ferry to Miyajima, then I recommend you get this 1 day pass
Inside the trams~
They are super slow but it is nice to see the scenary~
The first stop was the Atomic Bomb Dome~
The rest of the park is really beautiful and there are a lot of things you can read up while there. Everything is translated into English.
Family Photo~
Before going into the museum, my parents wanted to eat first since we were all hungry. It's really hard to find a place to eat around Hiroshima (around the atomic bomb dome area), in the end we found a really small place
I look tired here haha~
After lunch we went back to the Peace Memorial Park and had a look at the paper crane displays. Most of them were the same from 2 years ago when I last went
Walking towards the museum~
I actually didn't go inside the museum this time. I already went 2 years ago and I really wanted to explore Hiroshima since I didn't have a chance to last time. So I dropped off my family & Steven at the museum and decided to meet up with them afterwards~
I decided to walk towards the shopping district~
Went to Liz Lisa and this staff helped me out a lot!
Met up with my family again and then I decided to take them to Miyajima, which is an island near Hiroshima. To get there you have to take a ferry which you can use by paying by a normal JR ticket
My sister and Steven wanted to buy some icecream, even though it was freezing cold haha
Miyajima is famous for having deers that just roam around (kind of like Nara). However if you have food, they will chase you down for it lol. I went here 2 years ago and one stole a map out of my handbag and ate it :(
But they are super cute!
We got there really late so we walked quickly around the area
Cat wants to go inside!!
One of the world heritage sights: Itsukushima Shinto Shrine
I went here before when it was low tide during the day, it was really beautiful since I stayed until sunset to get some nice photos. Unfortunately it was really dark by the time we got there, but it still looks really nice
After that we went to dinner~ All the restaurants were pretty much closed so there was only 1 place open, that sold okonimyaki, Hiroshima style!
After that we took the ferry back and took the JR train back home (tram takes too long)
Then after that, long shinkansen ride back to Osaka~
That's all for now! Sorry for my lack of blog posts lately... it's super hard blogging whilst in Japan :( I have been filming heaps of random footage though so hopefully I'll have a lot of vlogs I can upload!

ReplyLooks like you had a great time! I really love your outfit! Those paper crane designs are really cool and colorful, I love them!
ReplyThe paper crane display is beautiful... I if I got to Japan, I definitely want to go see that. Also want to go shopping...but hey, can't just shop all the time. I'm picking up my japanese lessons again too. We just started learning verbs, so soon I''ll be able to have a simple conversation.
ReplyWow it looks so beautiful!! :D definitely somewhere I would like to visit one day! With the JR pass can you go to places all over the country? :) Also does it allow you to go around Tokyo on the local trains as well? Looking forward to more videos and blogposts! ^_^ x
ReplyYeap! As long as you are taking JR lines, the JR pass works for every train (except the Nozomi Shinkansen)
ReplyYou definitely should, it's really beautiful!
